Divorce, Annulment, or Separation - contested and uncontested
We represent husbands and wives in both uncontested and contested divorces and separations including cases involving children, property settlements with substantial assets. If the dissolution of the marriage cannot be avoided, we encourage spouses to try work together to determine an amicable separation agreement. If the case goes to trial, we provide a strong voice for the interests of our clients.

Uncontested divorces, annulments, or legal separations are cases in which the parties are able to reach an agreement on all issues prior to going to court. In most courts, there are different procedures to follow depending on whether the case is contested or uncontested. Some courts only allow cases to go on an uncontested track, if there are no children or property involved.

Child Support, Child Custody, and Property Division
Our office is experienced in handling all the issues related to dissolution of a marriage or separation of the parties. In child support and child custody cases, we work with our clients to resolve issues in the best interests of the child(ren). In addition, we help our clients understand and utilize the relevant Kansas and Missouri laws regarding division of any property the parties own jointly or individually.

Modifications
Several issues related to divorce and separations may be modified if there has been a substantial change in circumstances, such as parental relocation, change of income, needs of the child(ren), emancipation of the children, death of either a child or parent, illegal activities or misconduct of a parent, or modification by agreement since the prior decision was made by the court. Court orders which may be modified include child support, child custody, parenting time agreements, or other issues which may be mutually agreed to by the parties. We are experienced in helping spouses and parents execute effective post-decree modifications of child custody, support, and visitation agreements.

We welcome all prospective clients schedule a personal consultation. We look forward to meeting you, discussing your concerns, and helping you determine a course of action.

Paternity
We have successfully assisted both mothers and fathers in paternity related matters. Mother's issues generally relate to a desire to establish paternity prior to pursuing child support matters and father's issues are typically related to asserting their rights to visitation/parenting time or shared custody. We also assist unmarried couples, grandparents, and stepparents seeking effective visitation agreements

Adoption
Assisting families with in-family adoption is a legal service we are able to provide to stepparents, grandparents, and other family members who want to formally adopt a child relative who has been in their care. We help our clients keep their families together.
